Maine has 2 significant resources for Disaster Behavioral Health (DBH). They include 2 organizations that can be deployed through the Regional Resource Centers, County EMA. These teams are:
Each of these teams want to both train and be involved in exercises and drills throughout our region, If you are planning a drill in the future, consider asking these teams to be a part of it. DBH is part of almost every disaster we have dealt with in our state, so we need to be working with the folks that can help your agency respond and get the contact ahead of time. Additionally, under Kathleen Wescott, the Maine DBH team leader, short courses can be taught to any of your staff, including "Psychological First Aid" and "Disaster Behavioral Health: Maine's Critical Response".
